Scrum is an Agile Methodology which is focusing on swift changes from Defined to Empirical process.
What do we mean by Defined process?
In this every processes or steps
are defined and controlled by team lead or team members. Team are not thinking
beyond the defined concepts or alternative ways to find the solutions or the
quality of the products. Same legacy model followed during the steps of the
product delivery under the fully controlled and coordinated manner.
Now let’s understand the
Empirical process; the new way.
It’s better to know that the
SCRUM is truly based on Lean Thinking and Empirical process and it is used for the
project delivery which is Complex and not very well understood.
Empirical process has 3 important
pillars: Transparent | Inspect | Adapt
Transparency: Where
everyone knows that what is going on.
This means each team member of
Scrum Team – Product Owner, Scrum Master, Developers, Testers including
business users and even other stakeholders are aware of the current progress of
the project. Its gives a good opportunity to do the proper collaborations to achieve
the common goal.
Inspection: Inspection
of the work done to qualify the acceptance level.
This concept allows the Scrum
team to openly present the work done of the Project and take open feedback from
the Product Owner and relevant business stake holders and if any change in the
requirement ask then team welcome that and even open to take feedback to implement
those feedback such that acceptance level met. Inspection step allows scrum
team to inspect the process, product, people aspects and used practices.
Adaptation: Accept the change even at the later stage for
the continuous improvement.
Scrum team during the project
delivery going through inspection process and adapt the changes ask for as part
of the feedback. This helps for the continuous improvement aspects of the
project. Everyone in the team is allowed to ask question that is this OK or
better than before? And the most important aspect is that empirical process
values Value of the product in terms of Quality rather than Quantity.
So empirical process giving us
the framework to bind with the Continuous Improvement and Lean thinking gives
the concept of: Eliminate Waste, Reduce variations and Increase flexibility for
customer satisfaction.
Tips : We can say that “Transparency” is the basis for the Inspection and Adaptation.
